In early December 2025, Stockholm had less than an hour of sunlight. After spending most of my life in Sweden, I still had not grown used to the darkness.
Reading Jun’ichirō Tanizaki’s In Praise of Shadows reframed how I understood light, not as something that defeats darkness, but as something that exists because of it. This project is shaped by that idea, where neither is complete without the other.
The photographs move between hard light and deep shadow, holding onto what disappears quickly and what stays.
