Passing Through

Single frames from cities I was only passing through.

These weren't made as a project. They're the pictures that kept turning up between the projects, in Istanbul, London, Paris, Barcelona, Granada and Marrakesh. Someone crossing a courtyard, someone waiting at a stop.

Put together, they share a subject. Everyone in them is somewhere on the way to somewhere else.

People waiting at a bus stop behind frosted glass, a white van beyond

A man in a black hat and long coat walking past a window

A figure running past arched windows, blurred with motion

A man with a pint outside a pub while another man looks out through the window behind him

An older man on a bench resting his head in his hand

An empty wooden bench in a shaft of sunlight beside a barred window

Two men playing wind instruments in a crowded street march

Two men carrying shopping bags walking away down an ochre alley

People wrapped in striped flags in a crowd, one adjusting another's hair

A shaft of light full of dust falling into a dark interior crowded with people

A boy climbing a staircase, seen in a mirror beside a teal wall

A man with long hair, a black hat and triangular sunglasses, smiling

A street musician in a straw hat laughing as he plays, in hard light

A couple laughing in the back of a pink convertible, an older man turning round from the front seat

A performer with a tall instrument and two trolleys against a stone wall

A lone figure silhouetted on a bridge against a pale sky

A boy holding up a striped flag on top of a statue, in silhouette against the clouds

Two women in silhouette at a café table, the sea behind them

A strip of warm light running through a dark doorway

Also on Behance.
